The Canaries We Need to Watch. Our world farmers are the canaries in the coal mine. Already we are noting that many are moving to more favorable climes, Or, if impossible, leaving food production altogether, Or, if possible, forsaking their traditional crops And experimenting with 'new' xeric plant producers, Or transporting themselves with their crops to more northerly climes, To maintain themselves until the ever-increasing temperature Forces them to a further unknown way of life.
