Dear Reader,

All of these Poems and Thoughts are written by an 84-year-old poet/biologist, Frank Maurer, always concerned about where
we are headed, pricking society to simply conduct some clear thinking.

My Maurer/Timm Quail Ridge UCD Student Endowment (started just a few years ago, along with the 36-year-old Quail Ridge
Wilderness Conservancy) is up to $200,000 now and growing.

If you wish to donate (for in perpetuity) with even a single donation, which will be matched, as long as funds are available,
and are tax deductible through the University of California, Davis, email me at frankmaurer41@gmail.com for any information
and/or instructions you need to confirm my legitimacy. Just state your questions, including donation instructions, and I shall
respond.

IN ADDITION, Quail Ridge Reserve has a very central and facilitated Field Station. It has, for several decades, remained
essentially nameless, except for the 'Field Station'. To turn things productive, I suggested we find a donor(s) to name this
structure. The University of California, Davis, finally agreed that the naming donation would be a modest $500,000. (This is
a very fair offer--most namings are in the millions!) The donor person, family, or group would have a naming shield on the
building, as well as a plaque, explaining the identification of the donor. The University also agreed that all of the donation
funds would be applied to the Maurer/Timm Quail Ridge UCD Student Endowment.

Please contact Frank Maurer frankmaurer41@gmail.com if you know of a possible donor to share in this honor. The possibilities
include a person, a family, a business, or a nonprofit organization.

Devotedly yours,
Frank Maurer

VISITOR CENTER FUNDRAISING DRIVE

Thirty-seven acres of oak woodland savannah in Napa County, a good-sized house and two smaller buildings are the basis of QRWC's future visitor center, which will be an environmental education resource for northern California and beyond.

The property is located at the southern entry to the nearly 2000-acre Quail Ridge Reserve on Lake Berryessa. The Nature Conservancy has recently characterized the Reserve as one of the finest examples of preserved Coast Ranges in all of California.

QRWC purchased this property in 1994. WE have been persistently fundraising since then to pay down the $300,000 mortgage, and have succeeded in reducing it to $37,000 -- this means the end is in sight!

We would greatly appreciate a pledge in any amount toward this project, as well as networking to bring it to the attention of others concerned with preserving California's native landscapes and wildlife, and with educating future generations as to the importance of these.

Your recent stimulus check from the U.S. Treasury would be a wonderful way to assist this project which has been undertaken by a local land trust for the benefit of the citizens of California. Please note that contributions to QRWC are tax-deductible: we are a 501(c)3 organization, Tax ID#68-0184037.
